The 3rd semester students of the Assam University
Silchar visited the Central Library on 6th August 2018, as a part of
their study. The students were accompanied by Dr. Mukut Sharma, Associate
Professor and Dr. Nabin Chandra Dey, Assistant Professor of the Department
Library and Information Science, AUS. They went all round the sections of the
Library, learned the system of functioning the Library. The students minutely
studied the maintenance of library records, documentation part especially the
acquisition of books. They also learned the OPAC system and cataloguing part. The
students were very much fascinated to see the North East Archival Corner as it
is one of its kind especially collected artefacts of the North eastern region
of its various cultures customs and traditions along with the some good
collections of encyclopaedias and books on North east also written by north
east people. They also loved the peaceful scenic beauty of the college
environment far from the madding crowd of Silchar town.
